Botox For Migraine Headaches - BrightSmile Dental & Aesthetic Clinic, London NW3
Thursday 11th November 2021
Botox (botulinum toxin), commonly associated with use in cosmetic treatments to temporarily freeze facial muscles and improve the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles, is approved for use in treating patients suffering from migraine. Botox has been used for decades in many medical treatments including for the treatment of cervical dystonia, overactive bladder, crossed eyes, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). When it comes to treating chronic migraines, doctors believe that the neurotransmitters blocked by the injections are those that signal pain, allowing patients to live pain-free after receiving Botox injections. Botox injections are not suitable for all migraines and require the patient to have been diagnosed with migraine headaches. Patients will need an initial consultation to assess their suitability for this treatment. If you are a suitable candidate, Botox injections can be a great option to help prevent headaches and migraines and reduce the pain of future headaches. Injections are not very painful, as a very small needle is used to perform the injections. Patients will simply feel a tiny pinprick, and treatment is typically very quick. On average, 1 treatment session will only take around 15 minutes. There are over 30 injection sites and Botox is applied in seven muscle areas on the head and neck areas. Treatment sessions should take place approximately 12 weeks part, and new patients should receive a minimum of 2 treatments to determine whether they experience any benefits. The full benefits of treatment will likely not be experienced with less than 2 sessions. Injections may be recommended every three months initially, but the frequency of treatments should decrease over time until perhaps yearly treatment is enough. Naked Mole Rats Help Scientists Fight Cancer
Thursday 8th August 2013
After examining the naked mole rat, the researchers found a super sugar in the rodent's cells called high-molecular-mass Hyaluronan (HMM-HA). So what is HMM-HA? It's a form of a long sugar polymer, called Hyaluronan, naturally present as a lubricant in the extracellular matrix of the human body. In fact, it's commonly used in the treatment of arthritis or in anti-wrinkle skin care products. To read the full article click here.
